On a large, thin container the gate location matters more than almost anything else in the tool.
The gate controls how the melt fills the part — flow balance, weld-line placement, warpage and finish all follow from it. We position and size gates using the principles of gate design, add a cold slug well where needed, and check the fill before steel is cut. Why is gate position important on a container mould?
Gate location controls how the melt fills a large, thin container — balanced flow, weld-line position, warpage and surface finish all depend on it. Poor gating gives short shots, sink or warped rims. See our note on the principle of gate design.
What steel do you use for container and basket moulds?
Premium-grade pre-hardened steel such as P20 or 718H for general production, and harder steel in high-wear areas for high-volume runs, so containers stay uniform shot after shot.
Can you customise laundry-basket features?
Yes — ventilation-hole patterns, handle styles, lid options and basket size and shape are all tooled to your design, with reliability and consistency engineered into the mould.
What is a cold slug well and why does it matter?
A cold slug well traps the cooled plug of material at the sprue tip so it does not enter the cavity and cause a defect — one of many mould-terminology details that separate a good container tool from a cheap one.
