Plastic Chair Mould Maker: Monobloc, Rattan & Gas-Assisted Tooling

We engineer and build fast-cycling injection moulds for monobloc stackable chairs, rattan-weave armchairs, crystal PC banquet chairs, and ergonomic office shells. Machined from single-block forged DIN 1.2738 / 718H steel with Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) leg cooling and interchangeable backrest inserts — delivering 32–48s cycles on 1,000T–1,600T presses.

Why Cheap Chair Moulds Fail in Production

A monobloc chair weighs 1.8 to 2.8 kg and experiences heavy dynamic bending loads when a user leans back. Three tooling defects destroy profitability on chair lines:

01

Leg Wall Eccentricity & Stacking Lock-Up

If the deep leg cores shift by even 0.3 mm under injection pressure, two legs mould thin and weak while the chair warps — causing stacked chairs to jam or topple inside shipping containers.

02

Parting-Line Flash on Armrests & Rims

A chair parting line curves in 3D across the exact edges a user touches. Cheap steel or welded shut-offs peen over after 80,000 shots, forcing you to pay workers to hand-scrape sharp flash off every chair.

03

Slow Cooling in Thick Leg Tips & Bosses

The bottom foot plugs and armrest junctions are 2× thicker than the seat pan. Without targeted Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) cooling, cycle time drags past 55 seconds and sink marks ruin the top surface.

What We Build

Chair Mould Types & Interchangeable Backrest Inserts

Monobloc & Rattan Armchairs

High-output outdoor and event chairs with intricate rattan-weave textures, engineered with precise draft angles so deep textures release cleanly without scuffing.

Gas-Assisted & Thick-Leg Chairs

Hollow-core nitrogen gas-assisted injection moulds that core out thick designer chair legs — cutting resin weight by 25%, eliminating sink marks, and boosting stiffness.

Transparent PC Banquet & Ghost Chairs

Mirror-polished Assab S136 stainless steel moulds (SPI A-1 diamond finish) with vented valve gates to produce crystal-clear, bubble-free polycarbonate chairs.

1 Chair Mould = 4 Best-Selling SKUs (Interchangeable Backrest Inserts): A full chair mould is a major investment. We engineer precision dovetail-locked backrest and seat-pad inserts that can be swapped directly on the injection machine in 30 minutes — letting you mold a rattan back, slatted back, floral mesh back, and solid glossy back from a single mould base!

Zero-Welding Parting Lines & Leg Balance Control

1. Zero-Welding Steel & 3D Parting Locks

We never weld or patch parting lines. Every chair cavity and core is milled from a single ultrasonic-tested forged block with a 20° angled shut-off land and 4-way tapered locks — guaranteeing zero flash past 500,000 shots and ensuring all four chair legs fill with identical wall thickness (±0.1 mm).

2. Under-Seat Gating & Beryllium-Copper Cooling

Instead of leaving an ugly gate stub in the middle of the top seat surface, we gate from underneath the seat pan via a high-flow hot runner nozzle and route turbulent cooling water into Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) leg-tip plugs to prevent post-mold leg splay.

Production Economics

How a 35-Second Chair Cycle Pays for the Mould

On a 1,300-ton injection press ($75/hr operating rate), reducing cycle time from 48 seconds to 36 seconds via BeCu leg cooling and balanced gating boosts output from 1,800 chairs/day to 2,400 chairs/day (+600 extra chairs every 24 hours). Over 500,000 shots, that 12-second reduction saves 1,666 press hours ($125,000 in machine time) — more than paying for the entire chair mould! Run your own numbers on our unit cost calculator.

Step 1: 24h Quote & Free DFM / Stacking Check

Send your 3D file or physical chair sample. We run a free DFM analysis checking wall thickness, stacking pitch, and BIFMA load zones.

Step 2: Moldflow Balance & Insert Sign-Off

We simulate melt flow to ensure all four legs reach 100% fill at the exact same millisecond, and finalize your interchangeable backrest insert drawings.

Step 3: 5-Axis CNC, EDM & Texture Spotting

Rough and finish 5-axis milling, deep-hole water drilling, rattan/leather grain etching, and 500T die-spotting press alignment.

Step 4: T1 Trial, 150kg Static Load & Drop Test

We mold T1 samples, verify 12-high stacking verticality, test rear-leg static/impact load, and ship samples + trial video for your approval.

PERGUNTAS FREQUENTES

Plastic Chair Mould FAQ

How much does a plastic chair mould cost in China?

A single-cavity armless bistro or side chair mould in P20H/718H steel typically costs between USD 25,000 and USD 42,000. Heavy monobloc armchairs with intricate rattan textures, DIN 1.2738 steel, Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) leg cooling, and interchangeable backrest inserts range from USD 42,000 to USD 68,000, while mirror-polished S136 transparent PC chair moulds or gas-assisted chair moulds range from USD 55,000 to USD 85,000+.

How do interchangeable backrest inserts work on a chair mould?

We machine a standardized pocket in the cavity and core backrest zone with independent cooling couplings and precision tapered locks. You can unbolt one backrest insert and install a different pattern (e.g., rattan weave, slats, or solid gloss) in about 30 to 45 minutes without removing the main 12-ton chair mould from the injection machine.

What injection molding machine tonnage is needed for a monobloc chair?

An armless plastic side chair or bistro chair typically requires an 800-ton to 1,100-ton injection molding machine. A full-size monobloc armchair or heavy rattan chair requires a 1,250-ton to 1,600-ton press with sufficient tie-bar spacing and opening stroke.

What is the typical cycle time for an injection-moulded PP chair?

With Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) inserts in the leg tips and a high-flow under-seat hot runner, a standard 2.0 kg polypropylene chair cycles in 32 to 42 seconds when connected to an 8–12°C industrial chiller.

Can you reverse-engineer a chair mould from a physical chair sample?

Yes. Ship us your physical sample (or send 3D laser scan data / photos with main dimensions). We perform 3D optical scanning, optimize wall thickness and stacking ribs in CAD, and submit the 3D model for your sign-off before cutting steel.
