Automotive Door Panel Mould Maker: SVG Trim, Map Pocket & Speaker Grille Tooling
We engineer and build precision injection moulds for front and rear automotive door trim panels, lower map pockets, armrest substrates, and micro-perforated speaker grilles. Built in pre-hardened German DIN 1.2738 / 718H steel with 6-to-10 drop Sequential Valve Gate (SVG) hot runners and porous venting inserts — delivering zero gloss-transition marks on grained PP+EPDM-T20 surfaces.

- 6–10 Drop SVG Sequential Valve Gating
- Micro-Vented Speaker Mesh Inserts
- Zero Sink Marks Opposite Doghouse Clips
- LH + RH Family or Dedicated Press Tooling
Why Automotive Door Trim Moulds Suffer from Tiger Stripes, Burned Speaker Holes & Sink Marks
Unlike painted exterior bumpers, an automotive door panel is usually moulded-in-color with a laser or chemical leather grain — meaning any flow mark, weld line, or sink mark is permanently visible inside the cabin:
Short Shots & Gas Burns in Speaker Meshes
An integrated door speaker grille contains 500 to 1,200 tiny ∅1.2–1.8 mm holes. As melt races around those pins, trapped air compresses and diesel-burns the plastic, leaving black scorch marks or blocked holes.
Sink Marks Opposite B-Side “Doghouse” Clips
The inner B-side of a door panel is covered with 15 to 25 clip towers (doghouses), ultrasonic weld bosses, and side-impact energy ribs. Poor rib-to-wall ratios (>0.5T) or hot spots pull ugly dimples into the grained A-surface.
Tiger Stripes & Grain Scuffing on Deep Draws
Talc-filled PP+EPDM-T20 is prone to alternating shiny/dull flow bands (tiger stripes) and drag scuffing if draft angles are not matched to the exact VDI/Mold-Tech leather grain depth.

How We Solve Speaker-Grille Venting & Doghouse Sink Marks
1. Sub-Insert Speaker Venting & Dedicated Gate Drop
Instead of machining speaker-grille pins directly into the main cavity block, we build the speaker mesh as a removable porous-vented H13/BeCu sub-insert with its own dedicated SVG valve-gate nozzle right beside the mesh — filling all 1,000+ micro-ribs under low shear with zero burn marks.
2. Zero-Sink Doghouse Lifters & Grain Draft Audit
During our upfront DFM review, we audit every B-side clip tower to keep root thickness ≤ 0.45T (1.0–1.1 mm on a 2.5 mm panel) and verify that every vertical wall has at least 1.5° of draft per 0.025 mm of leather texture depth so the panel ejects without glossy drag marks.

Automotive Door Panel Mould FAQ
Should we build Left-Hand (LH) and Right-Hand (RH) door panels in one family mould or two separate moulds?
It depends on your press park and annual volume. A 1+1 (LH+RH) family mould runs on a single 2,500T–3,000T press and saves ~25% in tooling cost and press labor, making it ideal for 30,000–80,000 vehicles/year. Two separate 1-cavity moulds run on smaller 1,300T–1,600T presses, allow independent process tuning for each side, and double output for high-volume OEM programs.
How much does an automotive door panel mould cost in China?
A single-cavity main door trim carrier mould in German DIN 1.2738 steel with a 6-to-8 drop Sequential Valve Gate (SVG) hot runner and 15+ B-side lifters typically costs between USD 48,000 and USD 85,000. Sub-component moulds (armrests, map pockets, switch bezels) range from USD 15,000 to USD 38,000.
How do you prevent weld lines on grained moulded-in-color door panels?
We run a full Moldflow sequential valve-gate (SVG) simulation before cutting steel. By opening the center gate first and triggering subsequent valve pins only after the melt front passes each nozzle, a single continuous flow wave sweeps across the A-surface — completely eliminating weld lines on the grained visible surface.
When is the leather grain texture applied to the door panel mould?
We machine and polish the cavity to SPI B-1/B-2, run T1 sampling on the ungrained tool so you can verify dimensional accuracy on the 1:1 checking fixture and approve all snap-fit assemblies, and only apply the final Mold-Tech chemical or 5-axis laser leather grain after your dimensional sign-off (T2).
