Plastic Paint Bucket Mould & Thin-Wall Container Mould Maker

We engineer high-speed, zero-eccentricity injection moulds for 1L to 25L round, square, and oval paint buckets, chemical pails, tamper-evident tear-band lids, and IML food containers. Built in DIN 1.2738 / H13 / S136 steel with Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) neck/base cooling — delivering 14–24s cycles on 250T–650T presses.

Why Paint Bucket Moulds Leak, Ovalize, or Crack on Drop Tests

A 18L or 20L paint bucket carries 25–30 kg of liquid payload stacked 4 to 6 layers high. Three tooling flaws cause catastrophic warehouse leaks:

01

Core Shift (Thin Wall on One Side)

A 20L bucket has a 380 mm deep core with a 1.8–2.2 mm wall. If the core shifts by 0.25 mm during high-speed injection, the bucket ovalizes, fails the 1.5-meter drop test, and jams IML labeling robots.

02

Lid Sealing-Groove Warpage & Leaks

The upper locking rim of the pail and the U-groove of the tamper-evident lid must snap together with airtight interference. Uneven cooling in the thick rim collar causes oval distortion and paint leakage.

03

Slow Rim Cooling & Handle-Ear Tearing

The upper locking collar and plastic handle-ear bosses hold the most heat. Without Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) inserts in the slider collar, cycle time stretches past 30s and handle ears snap under load.

Bucket, Lid, Handle & IML Moulds We Build

Round, Square & Oval Paint Pails (1L–25L)

American and European standard 1-gallon, 2-gallon, and 5-gallon (18L/20L) chemical, lubricant, and architectural paint buckets engineered for zero-leak stacking.

Tamper-Evident Tear-Band Lid Moulds

1-, 2-, and 4-cavity lid moulds with precision 0.35 mm tear-strip bridges, optional pour-spout bungs, and O-ring gasket grooves tested for 100% drop-seal integrity.

IML (In-Mold Labeling) Containers

Round and rectangular buckets and food tubs precision-balanced for electrostatic IML robot label placement without label wrinkling or static shift.

Matched Bucket + Lid + Handle Turnkey Guarantee: Buying the bucket mould from one shop and the lid mould from another is a recipe for leaking lids. We build and trial the bucket mould, tear-band lid mould, and 2-to-8 cavity plastic handle mould together — verifying filled 1.5-meter drop tests and hydraulic top-load stacking before shipment!
Deep-Dive Engineering

How We Guarantee ≤0.08 mm Wall Concentricity & 18s Cycles

1. Dual-Cone Self-Centering Interlocks

To prevent the 380 mm deep core from deflecting during high-speed injection, we machine a 360° continuous dual-tapered centering ring plus 4-way zero-clearance locking blocks at the parting line, locking core and cavity coaxiality within 0.02 mm.

2. Beryllium-Copper (BeCu) Gate, Rim & Base

An 18L bucket has three heat bottlenecks: the center bottom gate, the bottom stacking chime, and the top locking rim. We install high-conductivity BeCu inserts in all three zones, allowing stripper-ring ejection in 18 seconds without bottom dome warpage.

Production Economics

The 5-Second Bucket Cycle-Time ROI

Cutting a 20L paint bucket cycle from 24 seconds to 19 seconds via BeCu rim and gate inserts boosts output from 150 buckets/hr to 189 buckets/hr (+936 extra buckets per day per press). Over 1,000,000 shots, that 5-second saving eliminates 1,388 press hours (~$83,000 in press cost). Model your exact unit cost on our Piece-Price Calculator.

FAQ

Plastic Paint Bucket Mould FAQ

How much does a 20L plastic paint bucket mould set cost in China?

A complete 18L/20L paint bucket tooling package typically includes three moulds: the 1-cavity bucket body mould (USD 22,000–38,000 depending on P20H/718H vs. H13 + BeCu configuration), the 1- or 2-cavity tamper-evident lid mould (USD 9,000–16,000), and the 2- or 4-cavity plastic handle mould (USD 4,500–7,500). Send your specs for an itemized package quote.

How do you prevent paint bucket lids from leaking during drop tests?

We machine the bucket upper locking rim and lid U-groove on precision CNC lathes to within ±0.015 mm circularity, use a 4-to-6 point balanced hot runner on the lid to prevent oval shrinkage warpage, and fit BeCu cooling rings in the bucket collar so the sealing lip freezes completely round.

Are your paint bucket moulds compatible with In-Mold Labeling (IML) robots?

Yes. Over 70% of the paint bucket moulds we build are designed for side-entry IML automation. We optimize the mold opening stroke, ejector stripper-ring dwell timing, and cavity wall concentricity (≤0.08 mm) so electrostatic IML labels wrap seamlessly without air blisters.

Should I use a plastic handle or a wire metal bail handle for a 20L bucket?

Up to 15L–18L, an injection-moulded virgin PP/HDPE collar-grip handle works well. For heavy 20L–25L buckets carrying 30+ kg of wall putty or paint, we can configure the bucket ear sliders with steel-reinforced pin holes for heavy-duty galvanized wire bail handles with plastic roller grips.
