Safety Helmet Mould Maker: ANSI Z89.1 & EN 397 Hard Hat Tooling
We engineer high-precision injection moulds for industrial construction hard hats, ventilated climbing safety helmets, V-Gard style shells, and 6-point suspension harnesses. Built in hardened H13 / S136 / 718H steel with crown-impact-safe valve gating and uniform wall concentricity — ensuring your moulded HDPE, ABS, or PC helmets pass 4,450N impact and striker penetration tests.

Why Poorly Designed Helmet Moulds Fail Impact & Penetration Certification
Under EN 397 and ANSI/ISEA Z89.1, a safety helmet is conditioned at −30°C and +50°C before a 5 kg striker drops 1 meter onto the crown, followed by a 3 kg steel spike. Three tooling flaws cause instant test failure:
Cold Slugs & Brittle Stress at the Crown Gate
The top crown is the exact spot where the test striker hits. A poorly heated sprue or cold-slug well injects unmelted resin or high residual stress right at the apex — causing the shell to shatter like glass at −30°C.
Weld Lines Across Side Earmuff & Lamp Slots
Modern helmets feature 30 mm accessory slots, chin-strap anchors, and ventilation holes. Without Moldflow-optimized venting and lifter timing, knit lines form behind the slots and crack when ear defenders are snapped in.
Internal Harness Slot Undercut Tearing
The 4, 6, or 8 internal suspension-clip pockets inside the helmet rim are deep reverse undercuts. Incorrect angled lifter geometry causes clip pockets to deform or pull white during ejection.

Crown Impact Integrity & 24-Second BeCu Dome Cooling
1. Stress-Free Valve Gating at the Crown
To pass the 3 kg pointed striker penetration test, the polymer chains at the crown apex must be amorphous and free of micro-voids. We use a PID temperature-controlled large-orifice valve gate with a Beryllium-Copper cooling sleeve so the gate packs fully and seals smoothly without leaving a brittle gate vestige.
2. Synchronized 6-Point Internal Lifter Release
The internal suspension pockets around the brim have negative draft angles relative to the dome. We machine 6 to 8 precision titanium-nitride (TiN) coated angled lifters inside the core that retract simultaneously during ejection — releasing the deep clip slots without grease contamination.

Safety Helmet Mould FAQ
How much does a complete safety helmet mould set (shell + suspension) cost in China?
A 1-cavity safety helmet outer shell mould in 718H or S136 steel typically costs between USD 9,500 and USD 16,500 (or USD 18,000–28,000 for a 2-cavity hot-runner shell mould). The matching internal 6-point plastic suspension harness mould and ratchet adjustment knob family mould typically add USD 8,000 to USD 14,000 for a complete turnkey set.
Which plastic material is best for safety helmets: HDPE, ABS, or PC?
High-molecular-weight virgin HDPE is the global standard for economical EN 397 / ANSI Z89.1 construction hard hats due to its high cold-impact toughness and chemical resistance. ABS offers higher surface gloss, rigidity, and scratch resistance for premium mining/climbing helmets, while Polycarbonate (PC) or glass-filled Nylon is chosen for high-heat foundry and electrical Class E helmets.
Can one helmet mould produce both vented and unvented (electrical insulated) shells?
Yes. We design retractable or bolt-in core shut-off inserts for the side ventilation slots. With the inserts engaged, the mould produces a ventilated shell; with the flush inserts installed, it molds a sealed Class E (20,000V dielectric) shell.
How do you ensure the helmet shell and the internal harness clips fit together tightly?
Because we design and build both the helmet shell mould and the suspension clip mould in-house from the same master 3D assembly, we trial and pull-test the assembled helmet before shipping the moulds — guaranteeing the clips snap in firmly and release only at the specified breakaway force.
