Telecom Equipment Housing Mould Manufacturer

Topworks manufactures custom telecom equipment housing moulds and injection molded plastic enclosures for network and communication hardware manufacturers. Typical projects include router housings, network switch cases, gateway enclosures, modem covers and related molded components.

Telecom equipment buyers need a supplier who can work with the complete product requirements. Connector openings, mounting features, ventilation, internal supports and the selected resin all affect the tooling and molded part.

Telecom Products

  • Router and gateway housings
  • Network switch enclosures
  • Modem and communication device cases
  • Telecom equipment covers
  • Internal mounting components
  • Custom plastic enclosure assemblies

Custom Plastic Enclosures for Telecom Hardware

Network equipment often combines a plastic outer enclosure with a PCB, ports, antennas, connectors and internal mounting components. Some products are designed for indoor use. Others have environmental requirements that need to be specified and validated for the finished assembly.

Topworks manufactures the molded plastic components according to customer drawings and agreed specifications. We do not assume that one enclosure design or material is suitable for every telecom application.

Tooling Decisions That Affect the Finished Enclosure

A telecom housing quotation should account for the full product design, not just the visible shell.

  • Port and connector opening positions
  • PCB mounting and internal locating features
  • Cover fastening and snap-fit interfaces
  • Ventilation and airflow openings
  • Visible surface and texture requirements
  • Material grade and any flame classification
  • Tooling maintenance and production quantity

These details influence the parting line, gate location, mold actions and inspection plan. They should be reviewed before the mold design is frozen.

Material Options for Telecom Equipment Housings

ABS and PC/ABS are commonly considered for electronic equipment enclosures. PC may be selected for certain impact or transparent requirements. Flame-retardant and other specially qualified grades need to be specified by the customer.

MaterialProject Consideration
ABSGeneral indoor network equipment housings
PC/ABSSelected enclosures requiring a different mechanical balance
PCImpact-resistant or selected transparent components
Flame-retardant PC/ABSApplications with a specified material flammability requirement
PA66 GFSelected internal supports and reinforced components

For outdoor or environmentally exposed equipment, provide the applicable UV, temperature, moisture and ingress-protection requirements. The completed enclosure assembly must be validated against its intended rating; an injection molded housing alone does not establish an IP rating.

From Telecom Housing Tooling to Production Supply

Topworks provides mold development and injection molding within one manufacturing operation. The project can cover:

DFM & Quotation

Reviewing part files, resin, tooling scope and production assumptions.

Mold Development

Designing and manufacturing the mold around the component and assembly requirements.

Sampling & Production

Running trials, reviewing samples and coordinating production after approval.

For OEM buyers, one important point is ownership of changes. If a port position, fastening feature or enclosure interface changes during development, the effect on the tool and sample approval should be documented before production continues.
